Jordan
Jordan is a lower middle-income country of about 5.3 million inhabitants and 89,000 square kilometres of which only 7.8% is arable land. Poverty and TB are notified in some pockets in the east, south of the country and around the capital Amman and other larger cities where Palestinian refugee camps, emigrants from Iraq, illegal workers from other countries and internal migration from the south of the country lead to overcrowding. Many TB patients crossed the neighbouring borders to get treatment especially from Iraq as the health infrastructure in their country has collapsed. TB Control in Jordan is centralized through the network of Chest Centers in governorates. There are 12 Chest Centers (one in each governorate) responsible for TB control.
Annoor Sanitarium is dealing with MDR-TB cases under a project approved by Green Light Committee (GLC). Annoor Sanitarium provides services to patients with chest diseases particularly tuberculosis from Jordan and other countries of the region.
