Introduction

KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation has a strong tradition in scientific research. Our aim is to contribute to knowledge on tuberculosis epidemiology and effective intervention measures to strengthen tuberculosis control. We give technical assistance to studies that will provide such information. Both research projects within and outside the Netherlands are supported.

 

The objectives of the unit Research of KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation are to:

  • Determine the burden of tuberculosis, TB-HIV co-infection and drug-resistant tuberculosis and its trends (epidemiological research).
  • Develop, improve, and evaluate tools for national control programs (operational research).
  • Train and educate individuals and groups in performing epidemiological and operational research on tuberculosis (research capacity building).
  • Promote the application of scientific results to strengthen tuberculosis control (dissemination and implementation)
